Curator of the programme Márta Szilágyi, who heads the Erlin Gallery in Budapest, said that she had maintained links with the Bel Art Gallery for twelve years. Painter István Bálint, an artist represented by the Erlin Gallery, has been invited to show his works at the Bel Art Gallery, and art historian Sava Stepanov, head of the Zlatno Oko Gallery, invited Szilágyi four years ago to open an international exhibition in Novi Sad.

Last year, Erlin Gallery showed works by the painters Andrea Ivanovic and Mira Brtka, the artist Tadija Janicic and the jewellery designer Jasmina Mina Sanader as part of the Plein Art Festival. This is how many professional links have developed between Hungarians and Serbs over the years, the curator added.

The works of the eight exhibiting artists will be shown at four nearby venues in Novi Sad. The opening of the Plein Art Festival will be held at the Brtka-Kresoja Foundation?s gallery where Munkácsy award-winning Hungarian sculptor Péter Márkus will show his works next to Serbian artist Mira Brtka.

The Artist Club will show photographs by Anikó Robitz and Pavle Jovanovic, and the Jelacic Croatian cultural and educational society will present paintings and video works by Simon Kaci and Maja Erdeljanin.

The Gradic Gallery will show works by Munkácsy award-winning Hungarian multimedia artist Bálint Szombathy and graphics by Lazar Markovic.

The Plein Art Festival in Novi Sad will run through September 10.
